Vanessa Nuala Kirby
Vanessa Kirby is an English stage, TV, and film actress. Kirby was spotted by the theatre director, David Thacker, when she was 21; subsequently, she went on to star in a series of plays at the Octagon Theatre Bolton with him. Her role in the hit production, âAll My Sonsâ, won her a Rising Star Award early in her career. She slowly made the move from screen to stage and made her TV and film debuts early in the 2010s. Her early hits include the mini-series âGreat Expectationsâ and the comedy hit âAbout Time.â She continued playing supporting roles in TV series and movies before landing a recurring role in âThe Frankenstein Chroniclesâ.
Childhood & Early Life
- Vanessa Kirby was born on April 18, 1988 in Wimbledon, London. Her father is the popular urologist Roger Kirby and her mother is a former magazine editor.
- She studied at Lady Eleanor Holles School, Hampton and decided to pursue theatre at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. However, she was turned down. Vanessa decided to take a gap year before finally resuming her studies in English at the University of Exeter.
- In 2009, she was offered a seat at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, but she turned it down after she was offered a series of roles by David Thacker at the Octagon Theatre Bolton. This launched her career as an actress on the stage.
